Blackout Poetry Night at Fair Shot Café

Take a creative pause for a good cause. Join us on Wednesday 30 July from 6 to 8 PM for HCUK’s Blackout Poetry Night at Fair Shot Café in Covent Garden. Fair Shot is a social enterprise café that provides training and employment opportunities for young adults with learning disabilities.

Throughout the evening, we will guide you through a series of creative prompts designed to spark both emotional release and playful fun. Using pages from old books, we will give forgotten words new life as we redact them to reveal the poems hidden within. After each round, we will open the floor for mini read-outs for those who feel inspired to share. There is no pressure to read aloud if you would rather just listen and enjoy the atmosphere.

Tea and nibbles will be provided and guests are encouraged to bring their own wine to share.

There are only 24 spots available and a waitlist will be opened once tickets sell out, so act fast to book your place.

Tickets: £30

As part of our support for the National Literacy Trust, our Charity of the Year, a portion of each ticket sale will go toward their work improving literacy and access to books across the UK.

Come create, connect and give back, one blackout poem at a time.
