Connect with Other Harvard Graduates

HCUK organises a large number of events throughout the year. These include our popular fixtures such as the John Harvard Dinner at Emmanuel College, Cambridge; live telecast of the Harvard-Yale Game; reception at the Houses of Parliament (sponsored by MPs and Peers with Harvard connections) and Global Networking Night. We also offer exclusive speaking events featuring celebrities or experts in their fields (e.g. Dame Darcey Bussell, Dame Kate Bingham); lectures by Harvard faculty (e.g. Dean Emma Dench, Professor Michael Brenner); theatre and performing arts events; and museum tours and concerts by visiting student a cappella groups from Harvard (e.g. Krokodiloes, Din & Tonics, Callbacks).  We celebrate and observe with our members cultural festivals such as Diwali and Lunar New Year.

Our Recent Graduates Committee also sponsors a wide range of events targeted at younger alumni (e.g. Welcome to Your City, new admits welcome picnic). They also manage our social media and liaise with alumni clubs of other US universities. Please contact recentgrads@hcuk.org for more information.

We offer special members’ pricing on most events and offer priority booking to members for events with limited capacities.

Please read our Event Guidelines here.

Connect with Alumni with Shared Interests

In addition to Club events, some of Harvard’s Shared Interest Groups (“SIGs”) offer virtual and in-person events. Harvard has around 60 SIGs worldwide with a huge range in membership numbers. Unlike clubs which are geographically-based alumni communities, SIGs are organised around shared professional interests; identity and shared experiences; undergraduate-based music and other extracurricular pursuits; religious identity and other allegiances and interests. Unlike clubs, SIGs are non-regional. Many SIGs have chapters or sub-groups in different countries and they organise their own events.

SIGs that have active membership in the UK and that have partnered with us recently include:

There is also a broader calendar of virtual events sponsored by Harvard alumni clubs around the world which UK alumni can access if of interest.

Alumni Conduct Policy

Harvard University Alumni Affairs & Development (AA&D) programmes and volunteer opportunities respect the rights, differences, and dignity of others. Those taking part in AA&D activities, are expected to demonstrate honesty, integrity, and civility in those activities, and are accountable for their conduct with University alumni, students, parents, volunteers, employees, and invitees. Harvard University Alumni Affairs & Development reserves the right to suspend services to and to exclude from participation in AA&D programs any person whose inappropriate behavior adversely affects the safety, well-being, and inclusion of community members. More information can be found on Harvard University AA&D’s Community Expectations page.

The Harvard Club of the United Kingdom (HCUK) is a formally recognized club by the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA), which is part of AA&D. Those taking part in HCUK programmes and volunteer opportunities are held to the same expectations and guidelines applicable to participants in AA&D activities and are accountable for their conduct with all members of the Harvard community. We ask that participants in HCUK activities read all communications from the University and HCUK regarding current policies and protocols.

HCUK reserves the right to suspend services to – and to exclude from participation in HCUK programmes – any person whose inappropriate behaviour adversely affects the safety, well-being, and inclusion of community members, or potentially creates a legal or reputational liability to HCUK. In showing courtesy and respect, we have a zero-tolerance policy to bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats, abuse, disruptive or otherwise unacceptable behaviour at all times and in all interactions. This applies to language and action.

If a person is deemed to be in violation at any time, HCUK reserves rights not limited to: removing a person from its events and mailing lists; deregistering a person from future events; and preventing a person from interviewing or representing HCUK in any way. Such decisions will be taken based on a single incident or based on behaviour over a period of time solely at the discretion of our Board.

In all interactions with HCUK, you recognise and respect that HCUK and its activities are run by alumni as volunteers on a best-effort basis.

Events and Guests Policy

Our events are all part of an on-going effort to present talks and social opportunities for the interest and pleasure of our members and affiliates. The Alumni Conduct Policy is extended to all participants, and Harvard alumni bringing guests are responsible for compliance on behalf of their guests. Therefore, all guests at all events must be accompanied and hosted at all times by a Harvard alum and may not attend events without their hosts.

Should the activities of any member or guest be determined in HCUK’s sole discretion to violate our Alumni Conduct Policy, then HCUK reserves the right to refuse service or entry, suspend, or expel the member or guest from the premises of the event and suspend or terminate the member’s membership. HCUK is not legally responsible for any losses or potential losses arising from such a response.

Any views expressed during our events are solely those of the speakers. Please also respect any additional guidelines specific to certain events. For example, where the Chatham House Rule applies, photographs, videos or any form of recording may be prohibited.
