Reimagining public spaces with artist Janet Echelman AB ’87

Join fellow Harvard alumni and guests for a one night only public talk with internationally renowned artist Janet Echelman AB ’87, the first visual artist to serve on Harvard’s Board of Overseers. The internationally renowned artist is best known for her monumental, wind responsive sculptures that merge art, engineering, and architecture and transform public spaces in cities around the world. Her installations have become landmarks in cities such as here in London and as far as New York, Sydney, Singapore, and Shanghai.

In this illustrated lecture, Echelman will explore innovation and meaning drawing directly from her new book, “Radical Softness,” and her acclaimed TED Talk, “Taking Imagination Seriously,” she reflects on how responsiveness, flexibility, and imagination can reshape our cities.

Janet’s talk will be followed by a conversation with fellow Harvard alumni and Director and CEO of the London Transport Museum, Elizabeth McKay, and an opportunity for Janet to respond to questions.

Join us at the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden for this rare opportunity to hear from a leading global artist and Harvard alum.
